The medieval castle towers majestically over the city of Thun. Built around 1200, it is an impressively preserved example of the architecture of the Dukes of Zahringen and a national cultural asset of Switzerland. Its "Knight's Hall" is one of the largest intact ballrooms of the High Middle Ages in Europe.
